Pumpkins & Autumn have become synonymous with one another. Use pumpkin during Fall Beauty Rituals to feed skin while providing gentle exfoliation.

My favorite way of performing this ritual is to use the stringy insides of the pumpkin where the seeds all cling together. After removing seeds & cleansing skin take a handful of it & rub in gentle circular motions onto the skin. Throw away stringy mass & leave on skin for 15 – 20 minutes. Remove by splashing cool water & rubbing in gentle circular motions.

Some might not like using the stringy parts of the pumpkin but I highly recommend it. Not only is it a way to use something that generally causes waste, it will keep skin all over the body feeling taut & refreshed. Exfoliation is not just for the face. Rub some into legs, arms, belly & décolletage.

If the stringy bits of the pumpkin have already been composted or tossed using the meat of the pumpkin works as well. It will require a bit more effort & tools than using the insides.

Take out a crock pot & fill with a half inch of water, set on low heat. Cut the top stem off as if making a Jack O Lantern, scoop out seeds & string. Then cut pumpkin into chunks small enough to fit inside the crock pot. Place the chunks skin down into the water inside the pot & cover to cook for about 4 hours. Time will vary by crock-pot, if using an old pot it might need to be on a higher heat setting.

Use a spoon to scoop the meat of the pumpkin away from the skin & store meat in a separate container. Once it cools grab a handful & apply like the stringy bits. Do NOT use the pumpkin while it is still hot from the crock-pot!

Do you have any Fun Fall Beauty Rituals? Pumpkins are an Autumn tradition in my home for many years so being able to incorporate it into my beauty rituals & routine makes it all the more festive!
